Services for Seniors

Stay connected.

While vision loss can impact lives at any age, our seniors can be the most progressive cases and at times, can be the most isolated population we serve. If you are looking for services to suit your own needs or as a caregiver, please let us know how we can help.

Small Group Classes

Community Based Training
Our Community Based Training program helps seniors adjust, adapt and continue to live independently with vision loss. Clients benefit from personalized needs assessment and education in areas such as mobility, daily living activities, communications and basic computer skills.

New Outlook Program
This option features small group instruction in various adaptive skills and techniques for seniors who are vision impaired. At the conclusion of classes, clients will be able to accomplish tasks such as cooking at home safely and independently on their own.

Transportation Services
For eligible seniors who are blind or vision impaired in Allegheny County, these services can be at no cost. Door-to-door transportation is available by appointment to medical providers, bank services, and personal shopping needs.

For more details about our classes or Community Based Training, please contact Elizabeth McKay 412.368.4051 or email at emckay@visability.org.

These services are funded by the Department of Aging or the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind.
